So today I got online for once and decided to go through all 3,593 deviations sitting in my message center. After I did all that I went to go visit my own profile page, because I hadn't seen it in a while (I actually kind of...forgot what it looked like).
So I glance for a second at my little tab at the top that says "Deviant for 5 years". I look over at something else, and then look back at that little tab, because I saw something wierd.
Right under "Deviant for 5 years", it says, "Needs Premium Membership".
Did I read that right?

I'll tell you about my NEEDS, you corporate scumbags who now run this joint. I need you to re-write some rules and terms of service so that art theft stops running rampant and I don't have to put disclaimers on every single one of my deviations explaining WHY someone can't use my art without asking. I need you to use the money you get from subscriptions to better the site instead of giving it away to certain admins just for them to piss it away on a 40-day first-class round-the-world trip. I need you to hire some mods who don't look down on their userbase like vermin (chough, Chix0r, Guruubii, cough). And I need you to stop assuming what you THINK I need.

That's it, DeviantArt. Fuck you, fuck your twisted copywrite policies, fuck your misplaced priorities. You used to be a wonderful website, and I loved you. But you grew exponentially, and for each shit that you gave to corporate endevours, you gave one shit less about everything else. I can't believe I've been on this site for six years.
I honestly can't even remember what it used to be like that long ago.
Only that my really crappy art used to get dozens of views within hours of submission, not because it was good, but because art wasn't being uploaded en-masse by thousands of people at once.
I remember I could submit something, go to the DA homepage, and see it right there under newest submissions. Bleh.

Been a while since I made a journal entry here ._.;
Anyway, this is the first time I'm missing Otakon in six years. This is the last time my family is going on vacation to North Carolina and of course the last three days of Otakon are also the last three days of my vacation. Next year I WILL be attending Otakon, vacation or not. I go into Otakon withdrawl quicker than beach withdrawl ;__;
I'm really PO-ed because this is the first year I have owned any BJDs (ball jointed dolls), and I know a ton of BJD collectors show up at Otakon. I'm missing out on so much...

Alright. I didn't even notice this until ~PurpleCupcakes (https://www.deviantart.com/purplecupcakes) said the following in a comment:
"I PUT “© 2009 *PurpleCupcakes” there by choice. My choice. Deviantart has a little drop down window that lets me choose my copyright license. It gives me the option to let other people use my art work if I wish so, I don’t."

yeah I noticed that, too. I was like wtf? I NEED a membership? I didn't know I was any less of a member and that a subscription was required...
